Dr. Maria Makeeva’s passion for naturopathy was love at the first sight. In the last 15 years she has witnessed many people regaining their health and improving their well-being. There are numerous benefits to using naturopathy as a healing system. It is truly a blessing! Naturopathic medicine is an art and science that blends old-healing traditions with modern scientific research.

FINDING THE ROOT CAUSE OF YOUR SYMPTOMS

A naturopath looks at the “why’s”, i.e. why is this person suffering from these particular symptoms? A person doesn’t get a headache because they are deficient in aspirin and they don’t have high blood sugar because they need blood sugar lowering drug. There are underlying root causes in these and other situations. For example, diabetes type II is a “lifestyle disease”. Numerous scientific studies show a strong correlation between high blood sugar and a high calorie, high sugar processed diet coupled with sedentary lifestyle. Add stressful life to the mix and you have a perfect recipe for diabetes.

CORRECTING UNDERLYING CAUSES

Depending on the root cause, a naturopath will propose a plan of action, addressing physical, mental and emotional health. This plan normally involves dietary and lifestyle changes, stress-reduction techniques, herbs and supplements to correct nutritional deficiencies and a physical activity plan. As a naturopath, Dr. Maria will teach you how to implement this plan into action so you can start feeling healthy and vibrant again!

PERSONALISED PLAN

Naturopathic recommendations are always unique to your genetics, lifestyle, history, current medical treatments, etc. It is not a “one pill cures all” approach.

Naturopathy looks at the body as a whole, not just the symptoms, so the overall well-being improves as a result. It is a great chance to re-start your life on a healthy note. Naturopathy addresses ALL factors that negatively affect person’s health, including physical, mental and emotional. Many disease develop once we reach middle age. This is not a coincidence. Years of faulty diet, lack of exercise, emotional stress and adverse life events pile up to produce a disease later in life. Most of these diseases are preventable! And naturopathy has a solution proved by science. My role as a naturopath is to teach you about the healthy lifestyle and help you implement it into your life.

Naturopathic interventions are backed by science. There are numerous trials showing the effectiveness of diet, supplements, herbs and other natural therapies in the treatment of many health conditions. There is a wealth of information in the scientific literature supporting the use of natural approaches, diet, lifestyle modification, attitude adjustments, deep breathing, acupuncture and other natural therapies,.

This is how it works

The naturopathic wellness appointment is usually 1-1.5 hrs long. During the health appointment Dr. Maria will gather your personal history looking for imbalances. At the end of the interview Dr. Maria will propose a detailed action plan and answer your questions. If your situation requires a follow-up consultation, it could always be arranged through SKYPE.

Dr. Maria Makeeva is a board-certified Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine, writer, international speaker and nutrition and health expert. She also holds advanced certifications in nutrition, women’s health, acupuncture and hyperbaric medicine.
